A UNITED FRONT FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE: NDC STAKEHOLDERS HONOUR LATE CHRISTOPHER NWORIE IN AFFA

The quiet community of Affa stood still on 22nd October, 2026, as political leaders, community elders, and supporters gathered in unshakable resolve and solidarity to pay their final respects to Christopher Ifeanyi Nwolie, a vibrant young soul whose life was tragically cut short following the attack on party faithfuls during the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship campaign flag-off in Enugu on 10th October, 2026.

In a powerful demonstration of unity and shared sorrow, a formidable delegation of top leadership and key stakeholders across Enugu State and beyond stood side by side with the bereaved family, sending a clear message: violence has no place in our politics, and no life should ever be traded for power.

Leading the high-powered delegation was the presidential candidate of NDC, Peter Obi, accompanied by his entourage, who joined the NDC Governorship Candidate, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, and his running mate, Dr. Frank Omeje, to offer comfort to the grieving family and community.

Also present to pay respect and demand accountability were NDC Senatorial Candidates: Hon. Uche Kingsley Ene (Enugu West), Dr. Pat Asadu (Enugu North), Princess Ada Ogbu (Enugu East). The solemn gathering also featured House of Representatives candidates, including Dr. John Nwokeabia Aninri/Awgu/Oji River House of Representatives, along with several House of Assembly candidates and influential super-stakeholders.

Among those in attendance were: Hon. Ike Ezeugwu, former Leader of the State House of Assembly, Barr. Emeka Okeke, former Commissioner, Hon. Chukwujekwu Nebo, NDC State Secretary, Chief Chukwudi Brown Obi, alongside numerous other prominent leaders and party faithful.

Speaking at the funeral, leaders emphasized that Christopher’s memory must serve as a turning point for political sanity in Enugu State. True leadership is built on protecting citizens, defending justice, and fostering peaceful democratic engagement, not bloodshed or intimidation.

As Christopher Ifeanyi Nwolie is laid to rest, the NDC leadership reiterates its unwavering commitment to seeking full justice for his untimely demise. His death must not be swept under the carpet, nor can it become another forgotten chapter.

To the Nwolie family and the good people of Affa, NDC stalwart, Ex-Commissioner Emeka Okeke emphasised, "We stand with them in this difficult time. May the Almighty grant Christopher eternal rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss."
