The Anatomy Of A Desperate Recruitment: Ndi Enugu Are Not Fools, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa is coming

For over three years, the administration of Governor Peter Mbah operated under the high-falutin guise of pure technocracy. For over three years, local political structures, community leaders, and dedicated party faithful were ignored, bypassed, and relegated to the background while the government projected an air of self-sufficient governance.

And what has this touted technocracy produced? Where are the working water schemes, the expanded road networks in our rural areas, the functional farm settlements, or the steady power for our towns? Instead, our citizens face increasing hardship, the loss of livelihoods, and economic policies that squeeze local enterprises and leave ndi Enugu poorer and bitter.

Now, with the electoral horizon looming large, the veil has fallen. Yesterday’s announcement of 101 political appointees, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants, is not a victory for grassroots empowerment. It is an insult to the intelligence of every man and woman in Enugu State. It is a calculated, transactional maneuver designed for one purpose and one purpose only: electoral mobilization.

To the Appointees: Enjoy the Title, But Guard Your Dignity. Note that this is not an indictment of your competence, but a sobering reminder of how this administration views you. Ask yourself where this recognition was during the last 40 months. Ask yourself what administrative emergency suddenly required over 100 new advisers and assistants just as election season draws near. Ask yourself why the core governance, budgetary, and policy decisions were reserved for the so-called "technocrats," while your roles center heavily on mobilization, enlightenment, and grassroots coordination.

The answer is painfully clear. You were not appointed because your expertise was missed for more than three years; you were appointed because the political machinery requires boots on the ground for the upcoming election. You are being called upon to do the heavy lifting, to brave the storm, and to execute the campaign legwork that those so called "technocrats" will never do. Do not lose guard. Do not succumb to artificial gratitude for crumbs thrown from a table that was set without you. Crumbs thrown when the food is almost consumed. 

The path forward is simple: collect the resources, but protect the future of our dear state. This money does not belong to any individual or administration, it belongs to the taxpayers of Enugu State. It is public wealth that should have been working for the people from day one. Take the positions and collect the remuneration, as it is your legitimate share of our collective commonwealth.

However, you must refuse to be used as tools for political deception or electoral intimidation. When the time comes to stand before the ballot box, remember how long you were kept waiting in the cold before the appointment and remember that your job ends immediately after election.

Ndi Enugu are far too politically sophisticated to be bought off with last-minute patronage. An administration that treats its citizens as irrelevant during its tenure cannot expect to buy their loyalty at the midnight hour. So graciously accept the appointments, collect the funds, but when the time comes to vote, follow the wind, vote your conscience, and send an undeniable message to Governor Mbah that Enugu State cannot be taken for granted.

Enugu needs a governor who understands the true role of the masses, who values you in times of peace as well as battle, and who takes joy in seeing people thrive. We need a leader who has spent his entire career maximizing the potential and empowerment of every citizen. That leader is Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). 

A new Enugu State is coming, cast your vote for the NDC, protect your ballot, and claim the future we deserve.
