Egbo Hails Mbah, Enugu Voters Over Peaceful LG Election




The Managing Director of Enugu East Zone Bus Terminal, Dr. John Egbo, has commended Governor Peter Mbah for providing an environment conducive to the peaceful conduct of the Enugu State local government election.


Egbo also praised voters across the state for their orderly conduct, urging residents and other stakeholders to sustain the peaceful atmosphere throughout the electoral process.


He made the remarks shortly after casting his ballot at Polling Unit 10, Amechi East Ward 1, in Enugu East Local Government Area, on Saturday.


According to him, the calm atmosphere witnessed at his polling unit demonstrated the willingness of residents to participate in the democratic process without violence or intimidation.


Egbo said the peaceful conduct of the election was important to strengthening confidence in grassroots democracy and encouraging greater participation in future elections.


He urged voters to exercise their civic responsibilities peacefully, respect the rights of fellow citizens and allow electoral officials to perform their duties without interference.


The Enugu East Zone Bus Terminal boss also appealed to political actors, party supporters, election officials and other stakeholders to put the interest of the state above partisan considerations and work towards ensuring that the electoral process was concluded peacefully.


He maintained that local government elections provide residents with an opportunity to choose representatives at the grassroots level, stressing that a credible and peaceful process would strengthen democratic participation within communities.


Egbo further commended the electorate for what he described as their sense of civic responsibility, calling on residents to remain calm and law-abiding throughout the process.


He said the peaceful conduct of the election would help deepen public confidence in the democratic process and encourage more citizens to participate in subsequent elections.


The Enugu local government election was held across the state's 17 local government areas and 260 wards, with the state government and security agencies announcing measures aimed at maintaining peace and order during the exercise.
