WHEN THE PEOPLE CAN NO LONGER WORSHIP IN PEACE, GOVERNMENT HAS FAILED ITS FIRST DUTY” — CHINYAKA OHA LEADS NDC LEADERSHIP TO AFFA, STANDS WITH VICTIMS OF ATTACK

AFFA, UDI — In a solemn demonstration of solidarity with a community still reeling from violence, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership in Enugu State has visited Inoyi-Affa in Udi Local Government Area, following the Sunday attack in which two persons were kidnapped and others injured.

Led by the NDC Governorship Candidate, Sir Chinyaka Oha, the delegation included the Enugu West Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Uche Kingsley Eneh, the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency Candidate, Dr. John Nwokeabia,, Engr. Ifeanyi Kingsley Eze Udi/Ezeagu candidate for House of Representatives and other NDC candidates, including those contesting the Udi North and Udi South State Constituencies, Aninri candidate and other party leaders. 

At St. Joseph Catholic Church, Affa, the delegation was received by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Kelechi Uche, who expressed appreciation for the visit, saying he was almost short of words until the kidnapped victims were safely released.

Speaking during the visit, Sir Chinyaka Oha expressed deep grief over the incident and extended the party’s sympathy to the affected families and the entire Affa community. He stressed that “the first responsibility of any government is the security of its people.”

Oha asked a profound question: What happens when people become afraid to go to church, and what happens when the village—the last place of refuge for many—can no longer guarantee safety?

He assured the community of the NDC’s solidarity and support, emphasizing that security must not be treated as a slogan but as a fundamental obligation of leadership.

The delegation also visited the Ugwuegbu family and the families of the kidnapped victim, Emma Onwudi and that of the abducted seminarian, offering prayers, comfort and solidarity.

Thanking the team, the Udi North House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Godwin Chidozie, expressed appreciation for the visit while praying that such will not repeat again in their land. 

For the NDC leadership, the visit was more than a political engagement. It was a solemn reminder that leadership begins where the pain of the people is felt and where their safety is defended.
