We Will Build Institutions That Serve Generations - Chinyaka Oha Pledges Support for Oji River Mission Hospital, University Project

OJI RIVER, ENUGU STATE - The Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State, Sir Chinyaka Oha, on Sunday joined the Anglican Diocese of Oji-River at the First Session of the 10th Synod of the Diocese, held at the Basilica of Christ Isikwe-Achi. 

The Synod, which ran from Wednesday, August 5, to Sunday, August 9, 2026, was held under the theme, “Let Us Rise and Build” (Nehemiah 2:18).

Speaking during the Synod, Sir Chinyaka Oha emphasised the importance of building strong institutions that can outlive individual administrations and continue to serve future generations.



He expressed particular support for the Diocese’s initiative to establish the Oji River Mission Specialist Hospital cum University, describing it as a project with the potential to significantly transform education, healthcare and the socio-economic development of the area.

Sir Oha pledged that , if given the mandate to Govern the state, his administration would support the successful development and effective take-off of the institution, while promoting meaningful collaboration between government and relevant stakeholders to advance academic excellence, healthcare delivery, research, innovation and opportunities for young people.


The NDC Governorship Candidate also commended the Anglican Diocese of Oji-River for its commitment to education, healthcare, community development and other initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.

Ifeanyi Kingsley Eze, Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency Candidate; Hon. Ugochukwu Eneh, Udi North Candidate; Hon. Ijegalu Andrew Chidozie, Udi South Candidate; Hon. Adinde, Ezeagu State Constituency Candidate; former ADC Chairman Prof. Uche Akubue; NDC Enugu State Secretary, Hon. Nebo Chukwujekwu Emmanuel, Chief Emma Obi the NDC leader in Oji River along side other party leaders.

The delegation’s participation underscored the NDC leadership’s recognition of the Church’s enduring contribution to education, healthcare, moral formation and community development.

The First Session of the 10th Synod concluded with Synod Thanksgiving Sunday and the launching in support of the building of the Oji River Mission Specialist Hospital cum University, marking another step in the Diocese’s vision to expand its impact on the Oji River community and beyond.
