Ohaa Celebrates Awgu’s Rich Heritage at Ike Ji Festival, Champions Unity, Culture and Community Pride
AWGU, ENUGU STATE — The NDC Governorship Candidate for Enugu State, Sir Chinyeaka Christian Ohaa (Odalije), on Saturday joined the people of Awgu to celebrate the New Yam Festival, popularly known as Ike Ji Awgu, in a colourful display of culture, unity and community spirit.
Ohaa, who was warmly received by HRH Igwe Kingsley Okeke, joined traditional rulers, community leaders and indigenes of Awgu in celebrating the annual cultural festival, which highlights the rich heritage and enduring traditions of the people.
He was accompanied by Hon. Barr. Nebo Chukwujekwu Emmanuel, NDC State Party Secretary; Hon. Uche Eneh, NDC Enugu West Senatorial Candidate; Dr. John Nwokeabia, NDC Awgu/Aninri/Oji River House of Representatives Candidate; Hon. Kingsley Eneh, NDC Udi/Ezeagu House of Representatives Candidate; alongside several NDC State Assembly candidates and numerous party faithfuls.
Speaking during the celebration, Ohaa commended the people of Awgu for preserving their cultural heritage and promoting unity through the festival. He stressed that culture remains an important pillar of community development, social cohesion and collective identity.
The NDC candidate expressed appreciation to the people of Awgu and HRH Igwe Kingsley Okeke for the warm reception, describing Ike Ji Awgu as a celebration that reflects the strength, resilience and communal spirit of the people.
The colourful celebration further underscored Ohaa’s commitment to engaging with communities across Enugu State and identifying with their traditions, aspirations and collective values.
