NDC WARD 9 REAFFIRMS INDEFINITE SUSPENSION OF SKC OGBONNIA, SAYS SANCTION HAS BEEN IN FORCE SINCE MAY 18, 2026
The Ward Executive Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ward 9 (Amoli/Ogugu/Owelli/Ugbo), Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, has reaffirmed that Mr. SKC Ogbonnia has been under indefinite suspension from the Party since 18th May, 2026, following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings conducted in accordance with the Constitution of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Party clarified that the suspension is not a recent decision, but one that took immediate effect on 18th May, 2026, and remains valid and binding until otherwise reviewed or lifted by the appropriate organs of the Party.
According to the Ward Executive Committee, the decision followed the report of a duly constituted Ward Disciplinary Committee established to investigate several petitions and complaints alleging anti-party activities, gross misconduct, acts of sabotage, and conduct considered prejudicial to the interests of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Speaking on behalf of the Ward Executive Committee, the Ward Chairman, Hon. Chief Chukwunta Chibuike Fabian, stated that the Committee strictly observed the principles of fair hearing and due process by issuing several invitations to Mr. Ogbonnia, giving him every reasonable opportunity to appear and defend himself against the allegations.
Despite these opportunities, the Party stated that Mr. Ogbonnia allegedly failed and refused to honour the invitations or participate in the disciplinary process. According to the Committee, his refusal to appear demonstrated disregard for the Party's constitutional disciplinary procedures, compelling the Committee to conclude its assignment based on the evidence before it.
The report was subsequently adopted unanimously by the Ward Executive Committee, which resolved that Mr. Ogbonnia be suspended indefinitely from the Nigeria Democratic Congress with immediate effect from 18th May, 2026.
The Party stated that the disciplinary action was based on allegations including persistent anti-party activities, gross misconduct, acts of disloyalty, deliberate attempts to undermine the leadership, programmes and electoral interests of the Party, conduct capable of bringing the Party into public disrepute, and disregard for the Party's Constitution and lawful directives.
The Ward Executive Committee further stated that, following its internal verification, it does not recognize Mr. SKC Ogbonnia as a registered member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Ward 9, raising questions regarding the basis upon which he has allegedly presented himself in connection with the Party.
The Committee also expressed concern over what it described as Mr. Ogbonnia's possession of the Party's account number, stating that the Ward did not authorize or disclose its account details to him and that only Mr. Ogbonnia can explain how he came into possession of the Party's account number. The Ward called on him to clarify the circumstances surrounding his access to the account details.
The Party reiterated that, throughout the duration of the suspension, Mr. Ogbonnia is prohibited from attending or participating in any meeting, programme, activity, or decision-making process of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and must not present himself to the public in any capacity as a member, official, or representative of the Party unless and until the suspension is reviewed or lifted by the appropriate Party authorities.
The Ward Executive Committee emphasized that the disciplinary action became necessary to safeguard the integrity, discipline, unity, constitutional order, and credibility of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, while reaffirming the Party's commitment to accountability, internal democracy, and zero tolerance for acts considered detrimental to its collective interests.
Signed:
Hon. Chief Chukwunta Chibuike Fabian
Ward Chairman
