Anambra housewife delivers triplet under Soludo's free delivery scheme


praises the policy




An Anambra State based housewife -Mrs Onyinyechi Ndubuisi, has safely given birth to a set of triplets amidst joy and excitement.


Her joy knew no bounds as the delivery was covered by the Gov Chukwuma Soludo's Anambra Government’s free maternal healthcare initiative which saved the young mother and her family the huge financial burden of antenatal/post natal care, caesarean section and delivery.


Mrs Ndubuisi, took delivery of two girls and a boy at the Okpoko General Hospital, Onitsha three days ago, July 6, said the state government health care programme ensured pregnant and nursing mothers receive quality medical attention throughout their gestation/pregnancy and childbirth free of charge.


The lady, from Onu-Eke in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and resident of Awada in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra.


The excited mother told newsmen this afternoon that the initiative has transformed access to maternal healthcare for mother's in the state.


According to her “The free maternal and delivery services ensures that quality healthcare is available to all, irrespective of state of origin.


“I’m grateful to the Anambra government for easing the financial pressure on my. family because I just cannot explain where and how we would have raised the money,” she said.


She commended the medical team at Okpoko General Hospital for their professionalism and dedication, particularly the doctor who successfully resuscitated the third baby after delivery.


And urged expectant mothers to register for antenatal care at government hospitals.


She discouraged women against patronising unqualified practitioners, and street-corner medical outfits stressing that skilled medical attention remained essential for the safety of both mother and child.
