Protest erupts in Elugwu Akwu Achi autonomous community.
The usually calm and sleepy Elugwu Akwu community in Oji-river Local government Area, woke up to a peaceful protest organised by mostly women of the community in agitation against the cripping trade of brothels housing commercial sex workers, illicit drug dealers and other criminal elements within the community.
Crime, they say has no colours. It is on this note that the people of Elugwu Akwu Achi have unanimously risen to put an end to this social menace, calling on the government of Oji-river local government and the Enugu State government to intervene and unravel the sponsors of these criminals who have continued to make the community unsafe.
Speaking with the President General of the community, Hon. Agozie Igbo, he reiterated his commitment to rid the community of any element capable of damaging the peace of the community.
The PG also said he is having an expanded meeting with the owners of those properties used by the criminals and the Local government authorities to enable peaceful coexistence in the community.
A safe community is a prosperous community.
Elugwu Akwu is saying No! To illicit drugs, commercial sex workers, and criminals.
