Dr. Chris Okonkwo Expresses Satisfaction Over Successful NDC National Convention, Declares Readiness to Build a New Enugu State

 

Governorship hopeful and renowned engineer, Engr. Dr. Chris Okonkwo, has expressed deep satisfaction over the successful conduct of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Convention held in Abuja, describing it as a defining moment in the journey toward a new Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the convention, Dr. Okonkwo commended the leadership and members of the party for demonstrating unity, discipline, and a shared vision for national transformation. He thanked Nigerians from different walks of life who have continued to rally around the ideals of the NDC, noting that the nation is entering a new era of political consciousness and purposeful leadership.

He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the massive supporters, stakeholders, and party faithfuls who accompanied him from Enugu State to Abuja, saying their commitment reflects the growing movement for genuine change in Enugu and Nigeria at large.

Dr. Okonkwo made a grand and electrifying entrance into the convention arena, surrounded by enthusiastic supporters singing solidarity songs and chanting messages of hope, leadership, and transformation. The atmosphere reflected the growing confidence many people have in his vision and capacity to lead.

Several party members and observers at the convention described him as a tested comrade, seasoned unionist, and disciplined administrator with a long-standing reputation for integrity, courage, and competence. Many openly declared that Enugu State stands on the threshold of unprecedented development under his leadership.

Speaking passionately about his vision for the state, Dr. Okonkwo declared his unwavering readiness to build a new Enugu State driven by economic prosperity, industrial growth, stable electricity, youth empowerment, and people-oriented governance.

According to him, the power sector will receive immediate and aggressive attention within his first year in office. Drawing from over three decades of practical experience in the energy and engineering sector, he stated that Enugu possesses the potential not only to achieve stable electricity but also to become a major energy hub capable of supplying neighboring states.

“This is not theory. This is practical experience. I understand the challenges of the common people because I have lived through them.

 

Governance must put resources and opportunities into the hands of ordinary citizens, not a privileged few,” he stated.

Dr. Okonkwo emphasized that revamping the economy, creating jobs, empowering businesses, and restoring hope among the people would form the core of his administration, adding that the time has come for Enugu State to rise into a new era of greatness, productivity, and inclusive development.
