COMRADE EKERE RE-ELECTED BY NUP DELEGATES.

 The Chairman Enugu State Union Of Pensioners Comrade EKERE Ikechukwu was yesterday at Gold Value Hotels Enugu Venue of the Enugu Pensioners delegates conference RE-ELECTED for the Second tenure unopposed with Members of his cabinet in a  Very Convivial atmosphere that had in attendance the National President of the Union Comrade Godwin Abumisi his Deputy National President, Enugu head of service Dr Godwin Anigbo mni,SSG,Prof Chidiebere Onyia who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in his office Dr Mrs Agbo, Comrade Onu Abdulahi the Deputy Chairman South East, Comrade Blessing Ngozika National Trustee South East and a host of other Dignitaries.



 In his Welcome address at the event Comrade EKERE went back  memory lane and recalled that when they came on board in February 2022 they Paid a Courtesy call on then Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and enumerated their request that included Payment of Pension arrears, gratuity, harmonization both  for local government and Parasatals Pension . Request was also made for the Governor to receive in audience the National President who is an indigene of Enugu State and was granted. 


On assumption of office by the Present administration of His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah, through the Prompting of the Enugu council,His Excellency Set up two committees to verify the Problems of the local government Pensioners and the verification exercise for Pensioners in the State.


 He thanked His Excellency for the Prompt attention to the monthly Pension arrears owed to the Pensioners and today are paid as when due.


The Council members are Pleading with His Excellency concerning the #32000.00 minimum that was approved to all retirees in the country for the implementation in the state.


 The head of Service Dr Godwin Anigbo mni in his response noted that the NUP have been very critical Partners and have used their youthful age to serve the State and noted that his Excellency have been breaking grounds in so many areas like urban renewal, infrastructural development in Education, Health, transport and other critical areas and noted with the issues raised by the Chairman will all be addressed with dispatch. 


He gave an insight of the Plan by the government to help Pensioners by way of discounting for critical drugs like hypertension.


The National President Comrade Godwin Abumisi noted that it was a home coming as the  National office receives report from all the States. The election was also conducted for other positions that makes up the cabinet.
