A Legacy of Compassion: Chief Ekenedilichukwu Ekpete Uplifts Over 1,000 Women & Less Privileged in Oduma

December 26th has become a cornerstone of hope and celebration in Oduma. This year was no exception, as the community gathered to witness the continued humanitarian efforts of their illustrious son, Chief Ekenedilichukwu Ekpete, the Onodugo 1 of Ohaofia Ndumeze Kingdom.

A Tradition of Consistency

This impactful program is not a new development; it is a mission rooted in years of dedicated service. Started on December 26th, 2017, this year’s event marks the 8th consecutive time Chief Ekpete has stood in the gap for his people. Through his unwavering commitment, he has transformed a seasonal tradition into a lifeline for the vulnerable, reinforcing his reputation as a leader driven by empathy and communal love.

The scale of Chief Ekpete’s generosity continues to grow, touching every corner of entire Oduma. Distribution is carefully structured according to the communities in Oduma to ensure no one is left behind. This year, his reach was particularly comprehensive, covering all nine villages in Amankanu, three Ohaofia Oduma villages including Ezinesi and Amanasato.

This year’s event reached an extraordinary scale, with over 1,000 women and less privileged individuals receiving high-quality wrappers and various essential gift items. Beyond the material value of the donations, the atmosphere was defined by a deep sense of dignity and joy.

The depth of the community's affection for "Onodugo" was evident in the emotional testimonies shared by the beneficiaries: "Chief Ekpete’s love for his people is not a one-time gesture but a lifelong mission. While he does this every year, 2025 has been exceptionally bountiful for our women and children," emphasized Mrs. Joy Chukwu."

Mrs. Ijeoma, another local resident, described him as a "providential gift," noting that his impact extends far beyond the borders of Amankanu to the entire Aninri Local Government Area."

Addressing the gathering, Chief Ekpete reaffirmed that his motivation stems from a sincere desire to uplift the downtrodden.

"My greatest fulfillment comes from seeing the smiles on the faces of our mothers and sisters," he remarked. He offered prayers for the community and pledged that as long as God prospers him, he will remain a conduit of blessing for his people.

Looking ahead, Chief Ekpete announced a strategic shift toward long-term economic sustainability for 2026, including Youth Skill Acquisition and an Expanded Reach to empower at least 1,000 individuals across the broader Aninri region.

The event concluded with a powerful display of communal solidarity. The women of Amankanu and entire Oduma offered fervent prayers for Chief Ekpete, asking for divine protection, continued favor, and long life for him and his family. It is clear that while Chief Ekpete invests in his people's welfare, the people, in turn, hold him in the highest esteem as a true father of the community.
