DR JOHN NWOKEABIA LAUDS LABOUR PARTY FAITHFUL IN ENUGU STATE.

 

The Leader of Labour Party in Enugu West Dr John Okechukwu Nwokebia has Commended the Labour Party faithful over their Conduct in yesterday's Local government Council Election in Enugu State.

Gentlemen of the Labor Party, what the PDP and Enugu State Government did in making sure that the ENSIEC LGA elections were not free and fair did not come as a surprise to us. 

They made it known through their agents that they were going to write the results of the elections even before the votes were cast. That was why there were no results sheets delivered in any pooling boot in Enugu State. 

This was possible because PDP was the judge and the jury in the conduct of their elections. As a result, the will of the people was suppressed, resulting in another setback for Nigeria democracy. 

I encourage our labor party members not to be dismayed because the PDP are cowards. It's only a coward who would incidously execute such mayhem against the right of the people with the cover of ENSIEC. 

It was obvious that PDP was  afraid that labor party would win the elections if conducted in a free and fair environment hence they unleashed their cronies masquerading and colluding with ENSIEC to rig the election. The PDP agents/members who are the renegades of democracy ought to cover their faces in shame and walk the streets of Enugu as enemies of democracy. 

It is shameful and unimaginable that in order for a Party that has been in power in a state for over 25yrs  to win any election , they must revert to election manipulation, intimidation and suppression of the will of the people they claim they govern. That tells you a lot. 

We must however be emboldened coming from a  position of strength that the masses are still with us judging by their support and participation in this election process and leverage more on the positive outcomes of this sham election.  

As a Party, this exercise has rejuvenated our members and brought back the fire that Labour Party faithfuls are known for. It has shown us that indeed with the right leadership and inclusiveness of our stakeholders and members, that the feat we achieved in the 2023 elections was not a facade.

My fellow Party faithfuls , let us seize this moment and take this as an opportunity to continue to engage with our members through meetings and personal contacts as if the next election is not too far away. 

In my previous conversations with you, I have always insisted that our strength lies in the hope and trust that the people of Enugu State have bestowed on us. We should never disconnect with them! 

Subsequently, an appraisal of our party officials and members involvement’s in this election process will be conducted and new strategies guiding further elections developed. 

Thank you Ndi Enugu for once again identifying with Labour Party. We must continue to push for a better tomorrow. A tomorrow that guarantees that all voices must be heard, that all votes must count, that the wishes of the masses are obeyed and that true governance and dividends of democracy are front and central in any legitimate government. 

In the words of Màriò de Andrade, “we have two lives, and the second one starts when you realize you have only one” Let us be united as one and keep fighting this evil. 

For the records, the LGA elections in Enugu State conducted by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) on the 21st day of September, 2024, was disgraceful, absurd and a sham. Going forward the Party will put up an official statement on our next course of action(s).
