MEDIA GROUP HONOURS COMRADE EKERE WITH LEADERSHIP AWARD.




The South East Media Forum a Media group has honored Comrade Ikechukwu Ekere the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Pensioners Enugu State with their Distinguished Leadership Merit Award 2026.


In a Citation read during the event that attracted a large Contingent of the Labour Unions that Included the Enugu State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress Barrister Fabian Nwigbo and other Members of the Labour Unions. 


The Citation read at the event by the Zonal Chairman of SEMF Mr Norbert okolo, said Comrade Ikechukwu Ekere was a game Changer for his outstanding leadership of NUP in Enugu State.


 The Citation further Pointed out the efforts by Ikechukwu Led Executives to dialogue with the State government that has yielded a great result in the welfare of the Pensioners in the State Such as the recent plans of the Government to increase the Pensioners Stipends with thirty two thousand naira.


 In a response by the Chairman of NLC Enugu State Barrister Fabian Nwigbo who was a Special Guest at the Ceremony described Comrade Ikechukwu Ekere as a workaholic whose only interest is to Seek for the good Welfare of the Pensioners and have in all honesty Changed the narratives and today it's a Success Story.


The NLC Chairman gave a firm Promise that under the Present Government in the State in no distance future the Pensioners will be Smiling based on the effort of the Present administration to end Pensioners Suffering.


 The Awardee himself who was so elated by the Caliber of guests that honoured the Invitation said he was excited seeing the Labour Union leaders, Pensioners, families especially the Ogurute in Enugu Ezike that was at the event friends and Mentors from far and wide.


 Comrade Ikechukwu Ekere went the memory lane and reminded the Guests that when the Executives came on board in 2022, met so many Challenges like the non Payment of so many years arrears of Such agencies like the Esbs, Library board, Daily Star, Rural electricity board, the situation changed after so much dialogue with the Government.


 He frowned at the issue of ghost workers that was so rampart and lauded the efforts of the Enugu State government to embark on Verification exercise that has uncovered so much Corruption in the system and ensured that authentic Pensioners are today paid as at when due. 


So many other Guests Spoke at the event and all had very kind words for Comrade Ikechukwu Ekere citing the recent relection as a testament of fact that he deserves the honour he received.

ENUGU MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT BANS TRAFFIC TASKFORCE FROM ALL FEDERAL HIGHWAYS.

  The Enugu State Ministry of Transport has  banned all manner  of Traffic Taskforce officials from federal highways in Enugu Metropolis with immediate effect.  The Press Release which was signed by the Commander Enugu State Traffic Management Authority Mr Kenneth Aniebonam UGWU Stated that fake MOT task force officials have been having a field day but must Stop henceforth as the ministry has Set up a Special task force officials to put an end to this obnoxious Practice that is giving the MOT a bad name before the Public and the Motorists.  The release Stated that the Ministry  taskforce officials have apprehended some of the fake officials while extorting Motorists in Enugu Metropolis recently and are currently facing interrogation and Prosecution.
