Fanatic Patriots Issue 48-Hour Notice To ADC Pub Secretary, Demanding Evidence or Retraction Over Enugu Fundraising Allegations

ENUGU, NIGERIA – The civic advocacy group, Fanatic Patriots, has issued a formal 48-hour notice to Mr. David C. Ani, Publicity Secretary of the Enugu State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), demanding verifiable evidence to support allegations of fraudulent fundraising made against prominent public figures, Prof. Barth Nnaji and Dr. John Nwokeabia -  or an immediate public retraction and apology.

The group described the published notice dated February 17, 2026, as “serious, reputationally damaging, and unsupported by publicly available evidence.”

Fanatic Patriots stated:

“Within 48 hours of this publication, Mr. Ani must provide concrete and verifiable proof substantiating the allegations made against Professor Barth Nnaji and Dr. John Nwokeabia. Failing this, a formal retraction and apology must be issued through the same public channels used to circulate the initial notice.”

The group further indicated that failure to comply may compel us to pursue appropriate action under Nigerian law.

Fanatic Patriots strongly defended Professor Barth Nnaji, describing him as an internationally respected engineer, former Minister of Power, and distinguished academic whose professional record spans decades in public service and global industry.

The statement also defended Dr. John Nwokeabia as a respected technocrat and political leader whose participation in the 2023 electoral process attracted significant public engagement and support in Enugu State.

“To publicly label respected individuals as unauthorized or fraudulent without presenting substantiated evidence is a serious matter,” the group stated. “Reputation is not a political tool.”

Call for Responsible Political Conduct

Fanatic Patriots urged political stakeholders to avoid escalating internal disagreements into public accusations that may undermine institutional credibility.

“Political competition or interests must not deteriorate into reputational warfare,” the statement read. “Where concerns exist, they must be addressed through transparent, lawful, and evidence-based processes. If there is any alleged wrongdoing, a newspaper is not a court of law. Resorting to media accusations instead of due process suggests a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of respected leaders.”

The group emphasized that public allegations involving financial misconduct require a high threshold of proof and questioned why no verifiable evidence had been presented, rather than resorting to what it described as a “trial by media.”

The statement concluded with a firm but measured warning:

“If credible evidence exists, it should be presented immediately. If not, integrity demands correction.”

Fanatic Patriots reaffirmed their commitment to defending the reputational rights of individuals against what they described as “unverified public accusations.” The group stated that it would not stand idly by while individuals, driven by mischief or political desperation, attempt to undermine the long-established reputations of respected leaders.

In a final note, the group emphasized that integrity in public discourse is non-negotiable. Reputation, once unfairly damaged, is not easily restored. Fanatic Patriots therefore reiterated their call for responsibility, evidence-based engagement, and respect for due process in all political and public communications.
