Image
By Chuks Collins, Awka Dec 29,2025 Barely three weeks after anguish and helplessness forced citizens of Lilu community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State stormed the Awka Light House to lay complain of the prolonged 4years abandonment to insurgents they have cried out again.  They cried out to know "whether we are still part of Anambra State, or have been excised to the neighboring Imo State. According to the spokesperson who gave his name simply as "Emeka" (for security reasons), since after the visit to the governor's office where they were received by the Secretary of the State Gorvernment, SSG, Chief Solo Chukwulobelu no action or response has come in any way.  "It was rather heartbreaking to disclose that the gunmen have continued to saunter into Lilu community day and night harrassing us as they like.  Few days ago they came, hacked down Mr Chineze Nwaka with an axe. They also abducted Chief Oliver Umeaku, a palace chief. Many others are stil...

Policy or Public Relations? The Growing Deficit Between Promise and Performance in Enugu State

Image
By Martins Chiedozie Ugwu Johnmartinsworldonline@gmail.com _“In the world of security intelligence, discretion is a strategic weapon, while publicity is a tactical weakness. A drone that fails to deter crime is merely an expensive toy in the sky, funded by the sweat of the taxpayer.”_ _“We are witnessing the rise of 'Governance by Announcement,' a pattern where new promises are deployed to bury the uncomfortable questions surrounding old failures.”_ As we approach the final stretch of this administration’s current cycle, the divergence between high-octane media announcements and the lived reality of Ndi Enugu has become impossible to ignore. A government must be measured not by the gloss of its press releases, but by the tangible impact of its policies on the ground. The administration’s promise of 10,000 kilometers of road infrastructure was presented as a bold social contract. However, with less than a year remaining, the actual output is a staggering shadow of that goal, e...

Image
By Chuks Collins, Awka  Dec 26,2025 The Nnewi Union in Diaspora, Atlanta, Georgia, USA chapter has made the yuletide celebration merrier for the less privileged persons at home in Nigeria.  The Union in her 2025 Christmas empowerment program which held at the four quarters of the community - Umudim, Nnewichi, Otolo and Uruagu gave out 100 bags of rice and an unspecified cash gift each.  At Nnewichi-Nnewi, the distribution of the palliatives took place at the premises of Late Chief Sydney Okeke(Aghariaku). Mrs Grace Okeke who anchored the distribution said that the initiative was from the good heart of members of the Union.  She noted that Nnewi Union in Atlanta Georgia USA as part of her annual empowerment program has always been offsetting bills of patients who are not financially capable to do so. She regretted that the hospital visitation was deliberately removed from the package in the 2025 program because certain staff of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teac...

Image
By Chuks Collins, Awka Dec 25,2025 Except a last minute reprieve from Gov Chukwuma Soludo, peace and smooth yuletide would not be guaranteed in Onitsha, the commercial hub of the South East geopolitical zone and environs this season.  Danger signal that all was not well followed series of frantic announcements by the Special Adviser to governor on Parks/Market, Chief Evaristus Ubah that the Iron Dealers Market, Atani Rd must relocate by Dec 31,2025 or be forcefully moved out.  Chief Ubah, according to the announcement ordered the about one thousand traders to relocate within 14 days or have themselves to blame. The Pathology of Tribalism: Why Ethnic Sentiment is the Architect of African Underdevelopment

Image
By  Martins Chiedozie Ugwu  Johnmartinsworldonline@gmail.com  “Patriotism is not allegiance to tribe or ethnic nationality, but allegiance to the sovereign ideals of justice, merit, and the common good.” History, in its cold and unforgiving honesty, has never recorded a nation that rose to greatness through ethnic loyalty. No society has ever achieved sustainable development by elevating tribe over competence, kinship over character, or identity over ideas. Nations advance not by emotional loyalty to bloodlines, but by rational loyalty to institutions. Having traversed the African continent and studied the mechanics of global powers, I have identified the primary friction point of Africa’s development: which is tribal politics. While advanced nations consolidate power through ideological rigor and institutional competence, many African states and communities remain trapped in a primordial cycle of ethnic competition. When allegiance is paid to tribal interest rather than ...

Anambra biz mogul, father of Unizik dies *Archbishop charges all to emulate his limitless philanthropy

Image
By Chuks Collins, Awka Dec 18,2025 The ancient blacksmith town of Awka and steadily developing capital of Anambra State has lost one of her key pillars, Chief Michael  "German" Nwofor. Born 95 years ago, Chief Nwofor through sheer personal hardwork, perseverance and industry rose to become one of the richest men Anambra State has ever known. According to his friends, business associates, and partners, it was his untiring and diehard working spirit that earned him the name "German". The Archbishop of the Province of Niger, His Grace, Most Rev Alexander Ibezim, described the late business mogul as a friend and pillar of support to the church throughout his lifetime. He urged all to emulate his peaceful disposition, gentle character and wonderful almost limitless philosophy.  He was the President of Ozo Awka, a position earned as the most senior of this revered and most distinguished power brokers.  He took the title Ozo Enyikwonwa. Public Service Announcement to Dr. Ben Nwoye: Zoning is a Weapon, Not a Covenant

Image
A  From a Concerned Son of Amuri, Nkanu West LGA. Dr. Ben Nwoye, Chairman of the APC State Caretaker Committee, your recent alarm against the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is not a call for political stability; it is a brazen attempt to invoke a "zoning covenant" that your political forebears in Nkanu were the first to shatter. Before you counsel any resident to resist attempts to "undermine the long-standing governorship zoning arrangement," you must answer for the original sin against that same principle. You claim that the zoning arrangement has ensured Enugu "uninterrupted peace" for decades. Let us recall the actual trajectory of power since the return to civil rule in 1999: Enugu East (Nkanu): Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani served 8 years (1999–2007). Enugu West: Sullivan Chime served 8 years (2007–2015). Enugu North: Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi served 8 years (2015–2023). Enugu East (Nkanu): Peter Mbah took office in 2023. The agreement since 1999 was a rotation a...

In his acceptance speech, Chief Ezeh vowed to reposition the NNPP into a formidable opposition and prepare it to “give the ruling party a shock in 2027.” According to him, the renewed mandate reflects the confidence of party members and signals the beginning of an intensified political realignment in the state. “We are rebuilding NNPP into a disciplined, credible and battle-ready structure,” he said. “Our target is not only to stand as a strong opposition but to offer Enugu State a real alternative capable of surprising the ruling party at the polls.” Chief Ezeh also emphasized that the NNPP’s guiding philosophy remains the kind of ideological direction the country urgently needs. “The ideology of NNPP is exactly what Nigeria needs to move to the next level,” he stated, reaffirming the party’s commit...

NNPP FIRES WARNING SHOT: Enugu Chapter Concludes Congress, Vows TOTAL SIEGE and LIBERATION of the State in 2027

The political landscape of Enugu State has been seismically altered. The New Nigerian People's Party (NNPP), Enugu State Chapter, has successfully and resoundingly concluded its foundational Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses, setting the stage for a monumental confrontation with the ruling establishment in 2027. This disciplined, three-tiered exercise in internal democracy - beginning with the ward congresses on November 24th, surging through the local government level on December 1st, and culminating in today’s epoch-making State Congress was not merely a procedural event; it was a MANDATE delivered by the masses. The massive, unprecedented turnout of party faithful across all 260 wards, 17 local government areas, and the new State Executive Committee signals a collective roar of defiance against political inertia. State Party Chairman, Chief Ejike Eze, hailed the flawless conduct of the exercise, asserting that the discipline demonstrated is the bedrock of their comi...
